Healing
Your body and you.

Current research reflects the fact that our bodies are not simply mechanical vehicles that get us around. Your physical body and health are intimately intertwined and affected by your thoughts, your emotions, your relationships, your environment and the activities you take part in. For example, detailed research has already proven that your immune system is closely linked to your emotions, supporting the idea that “laughter is the best medicine.” This can also be observed in “you are what you eat,” and “your state of being reflects your state of mind".
At Inner Waves, we take care to address not only your physical concerns, but also assist you in uncovering potential root causes for your physical situation. We dive deeper by supporting you in uncovering the emotional, mental, and environmental roots that may be closely entwined with your physical state. |
Losing your Health or Gaining your Life

Life is a series of experiences. How we react to, or perceive these occurrences will determine how we live and what happens in our life.
There are times in our lives when we perceive an experience to be so sudden or traumatic that it activates an innate survival mechanism called the “fight or flight” response. It is an important survival tool, but one that is creating havoc on our health due to the “imprint” it leaves behind.
During sudden, traumatic or repeated negative experiences, our bodies develop coping mechanisms. These responses are meant to ‘get us through’ the occurrence unscathed, however, they often become ‘anchored’ into our nervous system as protection against similar triggers in the future. Over time, triggers can become generalized, and the nervous system gets more stressed as the coping mechanisms become less discerning. Triggers have become ever more present in our regular daily lives as we ‘rush to sit in traffic’ and ‘push to meet deadlines’. Relaxing often means dis-attaching (ex: sitting in front of the TV). Consequently, this can lead to a dis-attachment from our bodies, our lives, and even our loved ones.
The truth is now becoming apparent. Our nervous systems are hyper-sensitive, revving too high and over react to stimulus; directly impeding our ability to heal due to the disconnection that we have from our bodies. We are seeing the results as stress induced illnesses are manifesting and becoming more prevalent each day (ex: cancer, diabetes, migraines, bowel disease, immune conditions…)
This is where we lose our well~being

This is when we lose our ability to live and actually enjoy our daily life. Our nervous systems are primed to react and often over-react to simple daily experiences that would normally not faze us at all. We react to life instead of responding to it.
The reason we have pain as a communication tool for the body is to tell the brain when there is something wrong. However, too often, we don’t listen, or we don’t have the tools to assist the brain in fixing the body. Reversely, sometimes the body has been yelling pain for so long, the reaction has become a ‘norm’, and may be a cause of chronic pain illnesses.
Regaining your Life and your Well~Being

Studies show that individuals can be experiencing pain and still score high on feelings of well~being. And some score low on well~being while not being in pain.
Our mental and emotional states are intimately linked to our rate of healing, our immune system and our feelings of well~being. Therefore, it is crucial to take the whole person into effect when attempting to make permanent health improvements; including our environment, our relationships, our habits and our perception of life. Every part of us matters.
